The Fate of the Wicked According to Scripture

The Bible often speaks about the wicked, but have you ever wondered what is the Bible’s definition of the wicked?

The Bible defines the wicked using different Hebrew terms, notably raʿ (H7451), meaning bad or evil, malignant and rāšāʿ (H7563), referring to criminals or those guilty of sin and hostile to God.

An example of the use of ra is found in Genesis 13:13, “But the men of Sodom were exceedingly wicked (H7451) and sinful against the Lord.

An example of the use of rāšāʿ is found in1 Samuel 2: 9, “He will guard the feet of His saints, but the wicked (H7563) shall be silent in darkness. For by strength no man shall prevail.”

Base on the above definitions and Bible verses we recognize that the fate of the wicked (evil) is fire and brimstone as noted in the punishment of Sodom and Gomorrah, while the fate of those who are guilty of sin is darkness.

The wicked also wandered in desolate places and will find no rest (Psalms 107:4).

These punishments are harsh but God prepared them for Satan and his angels (Matthew 25:41).

They were not prepared for humanity.

However, because some people chose darkness rather than the light of the Lord Jesus Christ they will be rewarded with their choices.

God’s original plan for mankind is good things. He encourages us to choose life.

The Lord’s desire for humanity is to live with Him.

In spite of the wickedness of man the Lord is patient toward us because it is not His desire that anyone receive these harsh punishments and perish.

Instead He is patiently waiting and hoping that all will repent and embrace everlasting life through faith in Jesus Christ.

Do you believe this?

It is better to believe and be saved than to doubt and regret it.
