The Lord encourages us to acknowledge Him in everything that we do and He will direct our path (Proverbs 3:6).

In doing so, we are essentially giving the Lord the glory and praise in everything that we do.

The word glory in Strong’s Concordance is from the Hebrew word “doxa G1391,” which means the opinion, judgment and view of someone.

Glory also means majesty, magnificence, excellence and preeminence.

I will focus on the first meaning in this post.

This definition means that before we speak or do anything we need the opinion of God.

How will God view our thoughts?

How will He interprets our actions?

Are our thoughts and actions pleasing to God?

These answers can only be achieved from the Word of God.

Obtaining God’s favor

Forsaking unrighteous thoughts

“The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked; Who can know it?” (Jeremiah 17:9 NKJV)

The Lord knows the futility of the thoughts of man (Psalms 94:11).

The Lord is acquainted with the thoughts of man and understand his limitations and weaknesses (Psalms 34).

Therefore, God’s thoughts toward mankind are precious. He wants us to commit our ways to Him and He will established our thoughts.

The Lord encourages the wicked to forsake his ways and unrighteous thoughts and return to Him and He will have mercy and abundantly pardon (Isaiah 55:7).

Taming the tongue and purifying the speech

James 3:6 says that the “tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity. ” The tongue can corrupt your entire body and sets your life on fire from hell.

Blessing and cursing can come from the same tongue. It will praise God in church on Sundays but backbites its brethren on Monday.

The uncontrollable tongue is deadly and must be tamed.

The tongue can only be tamed by the wisdom of God.

This wisdom is “pure, peaceful, loving, gentle at all times, and willing to yield to others. It is full of mercy and the fruit of good deeds. It shows no favoritism and is always sincere.” (James 3:17 NLT)

Not everyone possesses this wisdom, but if you lack it you only need to ask the Lord and He will grant it to you willingly without rebuke (James 1:5)

Walking in integrity

A blessed man is one who does not walk in the step of the ungodly. Neither does he follows the way that sinners take.

A blessed man does not sit in the company of mockers.

A blessed man delights in the law of the Lord and mediates on it day and night (Psalms 1).

A blessed man takes pleasure in the presence of the Lord.

When you follow these principles your thoughts and actions will glorify God.
