The Sun Will Stand Still
And there was no day like that before it or after it, that the Lord hearkened unto the voice of a man: for the Lord fought for Israel. (Joshua 10:14 KJV)
Can The Sun Stand Still?
We know that the solar system including the earth revolves around the sun. We also know that the earth spins on its own axis to create day and night every twenty-four hours.
The Earth revolves around the sun once every 365 days at a speed of 67,100 miles per hour, which is approximately about 1.6 million miles per day.
Astronomers say it is similar to traveling from London to New York in three minutes. That is a fast speed!
Furthermore, the entire solar system and the sun travel at an average speed of 448,000 mph within the Milky way galaxy. Our galaxy also moves in space relative to other galaxies.
Scientists also discovered that the Sun rotates on its axis once in about twenty-seven days. The rotation was discovered by noticing the movement of sunspots on the sun.

Even though there are so many movements at such tremendous speed occurring in our world, we do not feel it.
Why?
Because of how God created the human body.
He created the vestibular system, which is the sensory system in our brain that provides balance and motion and the location of the body relative to your surroundings.
The vestibular system is located in your inner ear.
If there is a disorder of this system one of the symptoms is dizziness or lightheadedness. The person will complain that everything around is spinning fast.
What happen if the earth stops spinning?
Astronomers and scientists believe that if the Earth stop spinning it would perhaps affect the Earth’s magnetic field and atmosphere.
Without Earth’s magnetic field, we will be exposed to the lethal dose of radiation from the sun.
At the battle at Gibeon, Joshua commanded that the sun and moon to stand still in the in the Valley of Aijalon.
The Bible states that God obeyed Joshua “and the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. Is not this written in the book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day.” (Joshua 10:13 KJV)
Joshua wanted the daylight to extend longer in the day to complete the battle.

He did not want the battle to extend into the night.
Joshua wanted to delay the sunset so he commanded the sun to stand still.
The sun will continue to shine regardless of our circumstances.
Joshua may not understand the scientific parameters of his request, but God knew and understood.
Thus, the Creator of the universe halted the spinning motion of the entire universe to obey the request of His humble servant.
What a mighty God we serve!
Is there anything too hard for the Lord?
What is your understanding of the Joshua 10:13?

No! Nothing is too difficult for God!

Hi Beverley, I have great appreciation for you taking the time to research the facts regarding the details of that hot ball of fire we call the Sun. The details are extraordinary! There’s no other god that can create as our Creator does. Things that are impossible for man are possible with God.
I have spoken to the clouds commanding them to move and commanded the sun to come out and shine. I have commanded the rain to stop in the name of Jesus and within a couple of minutes it did. However, I have not commanded thunder because it might strike back at me (LOL, but not really.) I never had a reason to command the sun to be still, just like I never tried to walk on water. (LOL!)
Thanks for the lesson Beverley!

Hi Jeanie. Thanks so much for your lovely input. Indeed, nothing is impossible with God. He is the Creator of all things. Sorry for the late response. The time goes so fast these days. Have a blessed week in the Lord.
