Enjoying God’s Handiwork
There is a proverbs that says, “You never know what you have until you lose it.”
That saying became a reality after hurricane Irma in 2017 and during the COVID pandemic in 2020.
After the hurricane, most of the beaches in the Virgin Islands were damaged. Debris littered the sea shores and there was massive erosion in some areas.
The aftermath of the hurricane was stressful and I needed somewhere to unwind.
I decided to visit the nearest beach to my apartment. As I drove passed the broken boats and catamarans that strewn all over the cay I began to doubt my decision.
So, I stopped and asked a security guard if the beach was safe. He smiled and waved me ahead and said, “The beach is good!”
The beach was indeed good, I thought, as I relaxed in its therapeutic warm water.
Surprisingly, the beach was completely empty. I guess most people felt that the beaches were damaged.
During the COVID 19 lock down, everyone on the island was complaining of how much they missed the beaches.
Most of these people were not beach goers during normal times, but when something is taken away from us we yearn for it.
The beauty of nature surrounds us and we must try to make time to enjoy it.
The heavens declare the glory of God, and the firmament shows His handiwork. (Psalms 19:1NKJV)
The Lord created the heavens and the earth and all their inhabitants (Nehemiah 9:6). He created them for our health and enjoyment.

Therefore, take a stroll through your community park or the countryside and enjoy the fresh aroma of the flowers. Listen to the cheerful songs of the birds and enjoy the gentle breeze from the trees.
Walk barefoot on the sandy beach and feel the tingle of the sand beneath your feet while listening to the rhythm of the crashing waves.
Take some time to enjoy God’s creation and give Him thanks for His bountiful blessings.

What a perfect article for us here in Florida. I was just wondering the same things about our beaches here after the passing of two hurricanes this month. I am hoping to go see one of them soon. Yes, seeing God’s handiwork from the shore, even if the sand dunes are partly washed away, will be a true blessing.
