The value of a roof

You will never know the value of a roof over your head until a category 5 hurricane comes and blows it away.

Suddenly you realize that you are homeless!

When your roof is gone you are exposed to the elements – rain, wind, and sun.

After Hurricane Irma in 2017, The majority of houses and apartments on the island were roofless.

A house without a roof is inhabitable. 

As a child growing up in Jamaica, I remember how landlords used to remove the roofs from the houses of tenants who were negligent in their rent.

Thinking about it now,  I realized that it was the most heartless and cruel thing that anyone could do to a family.

Thank God laws have changed to prevent landlords from doing this.

The most basic human needs are food, shelter, and clothing.

Nobody can survive without these basic needs.

Thus, God has provided us with the best covering.

He shall cover you with His feathers, and under His wings, you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler. (Psalms 91:4)

God’s covering for you

You are covered under the wings of God.

You are covered under the blood of Jesus Christ. Your sins are covered by His blood (Psalms 32:1).

You are covered with the glory of God.

The Lord will cover you with His hands in the cleft of the rock (Exodus 33:22; Psalms 85:2).

The Lord will cover you in the battlefield because the battle is the Lord (Psalms 140:7).

 God has clothed you with the garments of salvation, He has covered you with the robe of righteousness (Isaiah 61:10)

Whenever you feel ashamed, God will demonstrate His love towards you by covering your nakedness (Genesis 3:21; Ezekiel 16:8).

Because of God’s covering over you, every dry and dead thing must return to life.

I will put sinews on you and bring flesh upon you, cover you with skin and put breath in you; and you shall live. Then you shall know that I am the Lord. (Ezekiel 37:6 NKJV)

Ultimately, all of us must be covered by the blood of Christ to be in perfect communion with our Creator.

Continue to remain under the covering of the Almighty.
