Choose The Right Choice For Your Family

God’s established structure for the family is found in 1 Corinthians 11: 3 and Ephesians 5:22-24)

But I want you to know that the head of every man is Christ, the head of the woman is man, and the head of Christ is God.” (1 Corinthians 11:3)

Jesus and the Father are one and so should the husband and the wife be united as one.

Every head of families has a choice to make and God wants you to choose life over death.

“Now, therefore, fear the Lord, serve Him in sincerity and in truth, and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the River and in Egypt. Serve the Lord! And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” (Joshua 24:14-15 NKJV)

Before Joshua died, he reminded the people of all the miraculous works that God had done for them when He delivered them from bondage in Egypt.

Joshua encouraged the people to make a choice of who they will serve.

As the leader of the Israelites, Joshua stepped forward and declared that he and all of his household will serve the Lord.

“Israel served the Lord all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders who outlived Joshua, who had known all the works of the Lord which He had done for Israel. (Joshua 24:31)

Joshua and the children of Israel cast out seven nations from the Promised land and then settled peacefully in the land.

The meaning of the names of these seven nations has spiritual implications for us.

These strongholds are fear, pride, stubbornness, prejudice, small-mindedness, oppression, and intolerance.

Prayer to Cast out Spiritual Strongholds

Heavenly Father we thank you that you are our everlasting Father who cares for us and who understands our infirmities.

We thank you for establishing for us the perfect examples that we should follow.

We pray that you will impart upon the heads of family the spirit of love which will cast out fear; the spirit of humility that will cast out pride and prejudice; the spirit of obedience to cast out stubbornness and rebellion because obedience is better than sacrifice.

Lord, we pray that the family will be obedient to the Holy Spirit and demonstrate the fruits of the Spirit, which are love, joy, peace, longsuffering (patience), kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control (Galatians 5:22-23) to drive out the strongholds of intolerance, oppression, anger and anything that is contrary to your will for our lives.

Lord, we pray for peace in our family. Where there is confusion and discontent, we declare peace and harmony.

Lord, we pray that you will uphold the family with your righteous right hand, and we declare that we will dwell in your secret place where our protection is guaranteed.

  1. Powerful.
You spoke wisely and shared about serving God vs serving idols.
These serving idols is actually easier because simple things like your belly can be your idol or god. Philipians 3:19

Their end is destruction, their bellies are their God, their glory is in their shame, and their minds are devoted to earthly things. …

Let’s serve God and destroy these little gods which the end is destruction
