  1. This is very sad and still hard to believe. My heart and prayers go out to his wife and family. I find comfort in the verses below…

2 Corinthians 1:3-5 ESV, “3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. 5 For as we share abundantly in Christ’s sufferings, so through Christ we share abundantly in comfort too.”

    1. It is shocking, Dawn. Yesterday evening before hearing the news my son and I was just radomly talking about these basket ball stars when my son looked at his phone and exclaimed “oh my God Kobe Bryant died.” I just could not believe it. The news brought tears to my eyes and I am grieving inside even though I don’t know them personally. I read your post just now and it brought me comfort and I hope it will help to comfort those who are grieving at this time. Thank you for sharing this comforting bible verse. The Holy Spirit will comforts us during times of tragedy.

      1. I found out because my cousin called and said what your son said. Then I looked on my phone at the CNN app and there it was. It seems surreal. Times like this I wonder “why”, but I know the answers are with the Lord. I can’t imagine his wife’s pain. Life can’t be taken for granted. These types of things are scary so I wrote my post to help. Thanks for your post too that allows others to express their feelings and find comfort.

      2. The first thing I thought of as well was his wife. To lose your husband and daughter at the same time is horrific. May God have mercy upon them. My God, my God. It is time like this that I wish the Lord would return for this sinful world. Lord help us.

True strength and comfort during these times ONLY comes through the Lord and the power of His word..

“But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope. 14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus. 15 For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. 16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. 18 Therefore comfort one another with these words…1 Thessalonians 4:13-18

My stepdaughter, whom I love like a daughter, met Kobe several years ago. She said he was so kind to her and her three little daughters. “He had a light in him that you could see,” she said. “Although he wasn’t perfect, as none of us are, I definitely believe he knew the Lord.”

    1. Yes, it is sad. So sudden and untimely. It is rough. Life is indeed like a vapor. We have to live as if it is our last day on earth.

  10. I’ve been crying ever since I found out the news. It’s so comforting to think about the fact that they will be able to reunite again 🥺.

Revelation 21:3, 4 says, “He will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”

John 5:28, 29 says, ““Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out.”

    1. As I read those bible verses that you shared they send shivers through my body. It is comforting to know that one day there will be no more tears. We cannot bring them back but we will see them one day. One day when the Lord retirns every person who hears His voice when he calls will come out of their tomb just like Lazarus. Oh what a great day that will be! Thank you for sharing those powerful scriptures. I love them. God bless you.

    1. It is hard to deal with tragedies like this one. You wish you could turn back the hands of time. His wife is still trying to process the whole thing. Her tweet that she posted was heartbroken. It brought fresh tears to my eyes. We will continue to pray for the family and firends of the victims. Thank you for visiting and sharing.
