Overcoming The Sins Of This World

Your Faith Overcomes The World

our-faith-overcomes-the-world-1-john-53-5-7f65d

Is it possible to live in this sinful world without participating in sin?

According to the  Bible, you can.

It is possible to overcome the world when you believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and accept Him as your Lord and Saviour.

The victory that overcomes the world is your faith (1 John 5:3-5).

It is by faith that you believe that Christ lives in your heart (Ephesians 3:17).

By trusting in the leadership and guidance of the person who lives in your heart you will reign over sin and it will not overcome you.

For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome. For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God? (1 John 5:3-5NKJV)

You will also need to do some work to boost your faith because faith without works is dead (James 2:20)

do not fear

Faith boosters

  • Fearing God

Acknowledging the wrath of God against sin and the enemy thus preventing you from falling into sin.

Now all the people witnessed the thunderings, the lightning flashes, the sound of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking; and when the people saw it, they trembled and stood afar off. Then they said to Moses, “You speak with us, and we will hear; but let not God speak with us, lest we die.”

And Moses said to the people, “Do not fear; for God has come to test you, and that His fear may be before you so that you may not sin.” So the people stood afar off, but Moses drew near the thick darkness where God was. (Exodus 20:18-21)

  • Sing to the Lord.

Never forget

Constantly remind yourself of God’s deliverance in your life by singing praises to Him.

“Sing to the Lord, for He has triumphed gloriously! The horse and its rider He has thrown into the sea!” (Exodus 15:21NKJV)

  • Keep fit to avoid disqualification

discipline body

As a believer in Christ, there is a race ahead of you. This race is not determined by speed or power.

It is an endurance race and so you will need patience and perseverance.

Therefore, you must keep fit by training your body to be disciplined and to be in subjection to the Spirit of God.

Therefore I run thus not with uncertainty. Thus I fight: not as one who beats the air but I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified. (1 Corinthians 9:26-27NKJV)

By adhering to these principles will help you to walk in power and victory.

Today is day fourteen – the final prayer that ends 2019.

This does not signify the end of our prayer life, but a new beginning where we will move victoriously into 2020 with perfect vision to see what God has in store for us.

Today’s prayer will be excerpts from the prayer that Jesus prayed for His disciples and the believers.

The highlights of Jesus’ prayer for us

  • To be filled with joy.
  • Safety from the evil one.
  • To be holy by the truth of God’s Word
  • To be taught the truth of God’s Word.
  • Unity of the Church as Christ is one with the Father
  • That we love each other as the Father loves us.
  • That we will be with Jesus to see His glory.
  • That the perfect love of the Father and the Son will be in us

Glory to God!

May we endeavor to continue to pray these powerful prayer points over our lives throughout the New Year.

Let us pray for the victory of the Lord Jesus Christ in our lives.

“Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are. Now I am coming to you. I told them many things while I was with them in this world so they would be filled with my joy. I have given them your word. And the world hates them because they do not belong to the world, just as I do not belong to the world. I’m not asking you to take them out of the world, but to keep them safe from the evil one. They do not belong to this world any more than I do.

Make them holy by your truth; teach them your word, which is truth. Just as you sent me into the world, I am sending them into the world. And I give myself as a holy sacrifice for them so they can be made holy by your truth.“I am praying not only for these disciples but also for all who will ever believe in me through their message. I pray that they will all be one, just as you and I are one—as you are in me, Father, and I am in you. And may they be in us so that the world will believe you sent me.

“I have given them the glory you gave me, so they may be one as we are one. I am in them and you are in me. May they experience such perfect unity that the world will know that you sent me and that you love them as much as you love me. Father, I want these whom you have given me to be with me where I am. Then they can see all the glory you gave me because you loved me even before the world began!

“O righteous Father, the world doesn’t know you, but I do; and these disciples know you sent me. I have revealed you to them, and I will continue to do so. Then your love for me will be in them, and I will be in them.” (John 17: 11,13-25NLT)

AMEN!

These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. (John 16:33)

Thank you for joining me over the past fourteen days to pray for each other.

    • Thank you also, Dawn, for praying along with me these past fourteen days. One can chase a thousand and two ten thousands. I believe we have chased away more than ten thousand enemies and make the path clear for a brand new year. I feel confident of the Lord’s protection and guidance. Continue to do the great work that God has called you to do.
