Purging The Old Lump
Today is the fourteenth day before the end of this year. The Lord inspired me to write a prayer for each of those days.
It is in keeping with the declaration from God to make 2019 a year of prayer. Therefore, we will end the year in prayer.
I selected fourteen days because, as noted in the verses below, the number fourteen was significant in the Old Testament Hebrew custom.
And ye shall offer a burnt offering, a sacrifice made by fire, of a sweet savor unto the Lord; thirteen young bullocks, two rams, and fourteen lambs of the first year; they shall be without blemish: (Numbers 29:13)
And in the fourteenth day of the first month is the passover of the LORD. (Numbers 28:16)
Part of the burnt offering that God required was fourteen lambs of the first year that were without blemish.
The feast of the Passover was designated on the fourteenth day of the first month.
The lamb and the Passover represents the sacrificial death of Jesus for the sins of mankind.
Thus, the number fourteen signifies sacrifice, salvation, grace, atonement, forgiveness, mercy, deliverance, solid foundation, perfection, completion, protection.
Every day a prayer will focus on one of the listed significance of fourteen.
Today’s prayer will focus on the sacrifice that Christ made to redeem mankind of sins.
We, in return, should present our bodies as a living sacrifice unto God.
The prayer will be taken from Matthew 9:13, 1 Corinthians 5:7-8; Romans 12:1-6
Let us pray
Heavenly Father, we thank you for the precious gift of your Son Jesus Christ.
Thank you for loving us in spite of our faults. You still love us even when we turn our backs on you.
You still love us enough to wait patiently on us. Thank you, Lord!
Thank you that you paid the sacrificial price so that we can gain mercy.
We thank you that you did not come on this earth to call the righteous, but you came specifically to call us out of our sins unto repentance.
What a glorious sacrifice that you made!
Purge out of our hearts the old leaven of malice and wickedness and create in us a new lump of unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.
Lord, help us that we can present our bodies as a living sacrifice unto you which is holy and acceptable to you.
This is the reasonable service that we can offer to you, O, Mighty God.
Lord help us to be obedient to your Word that it may renew our minds and transform us into the person that you want us to be.
Heavenly Father, bind us together as one so that we can walk in love to your praise and glory.
In the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, Jesus Christ, Amen.
And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given Himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet smelling savor. (Ephesians 5:2)
During these fourteen days of prayer you can join me by posting your prayer requests and or your prayers in the comment section below. Thank you!
Amen Beverley. The prayer was wonderful. I’m looking forward to praying along with you over the next couple of weeks.

Thank you Dawn. I believe that at this time of the year we need to be praying more. There seems to be more deaths and accidents on the road. People are overly excited and impatient. This is really a time to bombard the atmosphere with prayers and the Word of God. However, the Church is caught up with the worldly excitement and so the enemy will catch us unaware.

You’re welcome. Prayer is a powerful gift. Prayer keeps our hearts close to the Lord. If the enemy can stop Christians from praying, he knows we won’t be effective. So we have to pray!! And not let distractions get in the way.
