The Lord told Moses to appoint six cities of refuge for the children of Israel when they entered the Promised Land.
These cities were places where a person could flee if they killed someone accidentally. He would remain in this city until he was judged (Numbers 35:9-15)/.
We no longer have cities where we can flee to await trials, but we have a Saviour who we can run to for refuge.
We can pour out pour hearts to Him and He will hear us.
The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed and any time when you are in trouble.
The Lord is a refuge for His anointed and a rock of defense. Thank you, Lord!
Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth! The Lord of hosts is with us; The God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah (Psalms 46:10-11)
Advantages of making the Lord your refuge and dwelling place.
Because you have made the Lord, who is my refuge, even the Most High, your dwelling place, no evil shall befall you, nor shall any plague come near your dwelling; For He shall give His angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways. In their hands, they shall bear you up, lest you dash your foot against a stone. You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra, the young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot.
“Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high because he has known My name. He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him. With long life, I will satisfy him, and show him My salvation.” (Psalms 91:9-16)
