Bilhah was the handmaid of Rachel. She decided to give her handmaid to her husband so that she could have children for her. Bilhah became a surrogate mother for Rachel. (Genesis 30).
She had two sons for Rachel. As a result of their birth, Rachel felt that she had prevailed against her sister.
Bilhah means bashful. She was a meek lady whose obedience gave Rachel her perceived victory. The meek shall inherit the earth and will delight in the abundance of peace. (Psalms 37:11; Matthew 5:4)
Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show by good conduct that his works are done in the meekness of wisdom. (James 3:13)
