You Are God’s Beloved

Rachel – means ewe (lamb). She was the youngest daughter of Laban, Rebekah brother. She was a Shepherdess, who looked after her father’s sheep.

The first time Jacob saw her at the watering well, he fell in love with her. When he met her dad, he asked for her hand in marriage.

Jacob uncle agreed if he worked for him for seven years. After the allotted time Laban tricked Jacob and gave him Leah, his oldest daughter at the wedding. It was not the custom that the younger marry first. Jacob also married Rachel, and she was his beloved (Genesis 29).

And Laban said, “It is better that I give her to you than that I should give her to another man. Stay with me.” So Jacob served seven years for Rachel, and they seemed only a few days to him because of the love he had for her. (Genesis 29:19-20)
