Lot chose to live in the plains of Sodom because it appeared more fertile.
The grass is not always greener on the other side because there may be dirt and dryness on the inside where you cannot see. As was the case with Sodom and Gomorrah.
Lot’s wife was so encumbered with the stuff that she had to leave behind that she turned and looked behind longingly with her heart filled with regret and became a pillar of salt.
She was mortified in time and space, forever stuck in her situation.
Remember Lot’s wife. Whoever seeks to save his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life will preserve it. (Luke 17:32-33)
