In recent times, many people are jostling for various positions in the church. The higher the post, the more attractive it is. Most people want ministries that have power and fame so that their performances can be seen. 

Hence, the positions of Pastors, Bishops, Prophets and Apostles are very coveted.

Unfortunately, many people do not realize that these posts are not really professional titles. They are in fact ministerial functions and gifts in the church. When God has called you into one of these ministries, you become a servant. Your duty is to serve the people.

But there is a top post on earth that is available for men. This position is extremely high, and it comes not only with a title but with fame, power, and prosperity. 

However, you need to be qualified to get this job. 

Although many vacancies are available, only one requirement is necessary.

But now your kingdom shall not continue. The Lord has sought for Himself a man after His own heart and the Lord has commanded him to be commander over His people, because you have not kept what the Lord has commanded you (1 Samuel 13:14).

God is searching for a man to be commander of His people. The only qualification is that he must be a man after God’s own heart.

How can you become a man after God’s heart?

You will need to know the heart of God, and you also need to know His mind.

The righteous God tests the hearts and minds. He saves the upright in heart. (Psalms 7:9). 

God will examine your heart to identify purity and righteousness. 

Can a man be righteous?

Indeed, God said that our righteousness is as filthy rags, and so our outward performances are insignificant to Him. 

God sees Christ within our hearts because He is the righteousness of God that atoned for our sins. 

Hence, when God the Father looks at us, He is looking for Christ within our hearts.

Therefore, your heart is purified by the presence of Jesus Christ. 

The next focus of attention is your mind because the devil will continually attack your mind with negative and immoral thoughts.

How can you train your mind to think positively?

Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross (Philippians 2:5-8

You need to be obedient to the Holy Spirit and walk in humility so that the peace of God will keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

As a result of Christ’s humility and obedience, God exalted Him high above all others. 

Hence, to be a ‘man after God’s heart,’ you need to be obedient and humble; and God will anoint you a king in His Kingdom on earth and also in heaven when he returns.

Additional fringe benefits from God

• He will give you a heart to know Him.
• When we seek Him with all our heart we will find Him.
• Prosperity in your spirit, body and soul.
• You will walk in truth. (3 John 1:2-4)
