The Father, the Virgin and the Doctor Part Three
Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. (James 5: 14-15).
When Jesus heard that, He said to them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. But go and learn what this means, I desire mercy and not sacrifice, for I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. (Matthew 9:12-13).
Sickness can be both spiritually and physically. There is a place to go when you are experiencing one or the other or both. When you are physically ill, you need to visit the doctor so that he can diagnose your problems and treat you appropriately.
You also need to recognize that Christ is the greatest physician of all times who not only can heal your physical ailments but your spiritual illnesses also.
You are spiritually sick when you indulge in sin with the evil spirits of Satan in your heart and life. The medical doctors cannot cure the disease of sins only God can forgive and heal you when you repent.
God gives the gift of healing to individual who can pray for you and anoint you with oil in the name of the Lord, and you will be healed. They can also lead you to the Lord, who will cleanse you from your sins. God made provision for our healing in every aspect of our lives. Therefore, we need to utilize them all.
Some countries are not advanced in medical technology. Therefore, the residents of these countries who are suffering from certain diseases must seek help from another country who are equipped to deal with them.
Puerto Rico represents one of these countries that are advanced in the medical field and so many patients in the Caribbean sought their service. My son who was born with a congenital heart disease received treatment in Puerto Rico because there is no pediatric Cardiologist in the BVI where we are residing.
Hence, Puerto Rico became the doctor who God used in the healing process of my son that helps to give him a quality life.
Puerto Rico – you are so near but so far away. Our different languages become our barrier. Nevertheless, love transcends beyond all boundaries and breaks down every barrier.
I am in love with you!
When we first met, it was in sickness and pain, but I fell deeply in love with you because of your tenderness and compassion.
I may not be knowledgeable about your historical past and your many magnificent attractions, but I do know that your people are filled with love and kindness.
You embraced a stranger and gave him comfort and care. You took him in your arms, your houses, your lives and you gave him happiness in spite of his pain and distress.
You never gave up on him even when his recovery stretched out longer than you planned. You continued to pour in the oil and the wine until he was healed and restored. God gave you the gift of healing so continue to use it wisely because you will be rewarded.
Puerto Rico – a land steeped in history with a strong and powerful heritage. You are filled with old relics, cobbled stone streets and old brick buildings which are reminders of your forefathers whose courage and heroism taught you strength and audacity.
You will forever be stamped in my heart.
