Wait For Love!
I charge you, oh daughters of Jerusalem, do not stir up nor awaken love until it pleases.
For love is as strong as death, jealousy as cruel as the grave. Its flames are flames of fire, a most vehement flame. Many waters cannot quench love, nor can the floods drown it…(Song of Solomon 8:4,6.7)
Love is a powerful emotion which can be dangerous in the hands of the immature or the reckless.
So do not be too anxious to awaken love but wait for it in the arms of the One who is the Author and Creator of Love.
While my beloved delayed…
While my beloved delayed,
I dream constantly, but I wait.
While I wait,
I rest at the feet of Christ, my King.
I am not anxious;
I am not flustered,
Because I am in love with
My King and my Redeemer.
All around my surrounding
My kinsmen become fretful and worried;
But I am unperturbed,
As I am satisfied serving
My King and my Saviour.
I wait in comfort!
I wait in contentment
Because our love is secured.
So while I wait,
I prepare for my Groom and my King.
Suddenly there is a buzz of activity.
My beloved has finally arrived!
‘His feet are like fine brass;
As if refined in a furnace.’
His face shines like the sun in all its glory.
‘His voice as the sound of many waters’
As He calls me into his kingdom.
‘His mouth is most sweet!
Yes, He is altogether lovely.
This is my beloved, and this is my friend.
O daughters of Jerusalem,
‘I charge you do not stir up,
Nor awaken love until it pleases!’ (Solomon 3:5; 5:16)
So wait for it!
