Searching For Mr. Right

As a young girl growing up in the rural areas of Jamaica, we would claim that we are waiting for Mr. Right before marrying.

Parents would also advise their daughters to wait until they meet Mr. Right before they form a relationship with a man. girl-882336_640 (1)

Unfortunately most parents did not ensure that they mold their sons into a Mr. Right. So where are the girls going to find a Mr. Right? Is there such a man as Mr. Right?

The young men also want to find their perfect Miss Right, who would become their wife.

When I was a teenager, the young peoples’ meeting at my church sometimes held discussions about finding Mr. Right. The young ladies claimed that their Mr. Right must be a Christian, who is faithful, friendly and kind.

The young men’s main criteria for their perfect companion was that their prospective wife must be a virgin.

Unfortunately, many of those young men even though they were Christians were busy sowing their wild oats. But when they were ready to marry they want their bride to be a virgin.

This type of behavior is contrary to the word of God. We would like to receive the best, but we do not ensure that we are the best.

Is there such a person as Mr. or Miss Right? Can we find perfection in the opposite sex? Is there any good in a man or woman?

According to Romans 7:18- 20, there is no good in the flesh. Although the will to do good is present within a person, he finds it hard to perform good.

So the good that he wants to do he does not do it but instead practices the evil which he does not want to do.

There is clearly a war between the flesh and the willpower of an individual. In other words, the sin that is present in the flesh is overriding the will to do good things that are within a man.

How did this sin enter the body?

After God created man and placed him in the Garden of Eden, he declared that it was not good for the man to be alone. So he took a rib from his side and created woman – his companion.

Together they were good in the sight of God. However, this all changed when the serpent deceived them. Sin entered the heart of man which was passed down from generation to generation. (Genesis 1 – 3; Romans 5:12-21)

But God put a stop to this generational curse in the Garden of Eden where it began. He sent his Son to be the ultimate sacrifice for all of that sinful nature in man.

On the third day when He rose, we received new life from Him. (Romans 6:1-14). It is through Jesus Christ that we can become good because he returned us to our original status in God.

Look For Christ within the man

Look For Christ within the man

Therefore to find Mr. or Miss Right you need to look for Christ within the person.

Do not focus on the physical appearance or characteristics but concentrate on the spirit of God that is within the person.

Only God can lead you to such a person. So my advice to you is that before you start to search for Mr. or Miss Right, please find God and have a relationship with Him.

When the Lord is ready, He will introduce you to the right person who is your spiritual mate.

  1. Thank you Yvonne. Your support is greatly appreciated. Many times we tend to focus on the flaws in others without realizing that there is a huge beam in our eyes.
