You have big dreams and desires! You need to work hard to make them become reality. With God’s help, you can become great men and women of tomorrow.
Therefore, it is important that you learn how to be humble. Pride is the leading spirit that destroys relationships, and it will also pull you down from your high position.
According to Ezekiel, Lucifer (represented as the king of Tyre), was the seal of perfection, filled with wisdom and perfect in beauty. He was in the Garden of Eden and was a witness to man’s creation. He also walked among the fiery stones on the holy mountain of God.
Lucifer was very rich because every precious stone was his covering and he was gifted because God created music within him.
He was the anointed cherub who was the leader. The Lord established him in this position. He was perfect in every way from the day God created him until iniquity (sin) developed in his heart.
How was this possible? As a result of Lucifer’s high position and his duties (abundant blessings from the Lord), he became filled with violence, and he sinned.
A destructive force developed in Lucifer’s heart that caused him to sin. This force was pride because his heart was lifted up, and he became arrogant.
Lucifer believed that because of his perfection and his splendor he should ascend above the heights of the cloud and sit on the mount of the congregation on the farthest side of the north.
In other words, Lucifer wanted to exalt his throne above the stars (angels) of God. He wanted to be like the Most High God – his Creator.
Was that possible?
Lucifer’s arrogance corrupted his wisdom, meaning he became foolish in his thoughts.
Immediately God cast him out of heaven as a profane thing and destroyed him from the midst of the fiery stones. He was thrown to the ground and was laid before kings so that they would gaze at him.
Lucifer became Satan because he defiled his sanctuaries by his many iniquities. He defiled his home in heaven with pride so God threw him out because no sin can be in the presence of God.
Eventually, at the end of this world, the Lord will utterly annihilate him with fire upon the earth.
Satan defiled the ground of the earth, so God cursed it (Genesis 3:17). He continues to pollute the earth by his many lies and tricks. Because humans walk on the ground, they are susceptible to Satan’s defilement. The chief spirit that Satan uses to corrupt man is pride which leads to arrogance and haughtiness.
Arrogance leads to deception. When you become arrogant, you deceive yourself in your thoughts. You then believe that you are better than others, so you treat people with disdain. This deception will lead to foolish behavior. In other words, you will become stupid in thoughts and actions.
Factors that lead to pride
These are the same attributes that led to Satan’s downfall.
- Beauty – Those who are blessed with perfect physical features.
- Highly talented.
- Your position meaning your profession or status; or your location – if you were born in a developed country you might believe that you are more entitled to certain privileges or rights irrespective of whether or not you are qualified for it.
- Wealth whether by inheritance or profession.
- Your anointing from God – When the Lord blesses you with spiritual anointing such as the gift of healing or prophecy you may become haughty. Many of God’s anointed leaders have been defiled by Satan’s spirit of pride.
The spirit of pride can corrupt your heart and mind. Therefore, you need to acquire the mind of Christ (Philippians 2: 5-10). The mind of Christ is humility and obedience.
The Lord has a plan and a great future for everyone. This future includes wisdom and understanding, knowledge, gifts and talents, beauty, wealth, anointing from God, relationship with God, and high position in life (fame).
You will receive all of them when you choose the right hand of God and give Him your total life.
For you to remain in your lofty position, you must always be humble and obedient to God.
