Your Heart Lies With Your Treasures

Where Your Treasure Is, There Your Heart Will Be

At the beginning of the year 2016 the power ball lottery in the USA went up to a whopping 1.5 billion dollars, and everyone was in a frantic rush to purchase a ticket with the hope of winning.

One of these lottery tickets costs two to three dollars, but many people spent thousands of dollars buying multiple lottery tickets to increase their chances of winning.

The news media showed a large number of people anxiously waiting in long lines to purchase tickets.

Everyone hoped that they would win but the chance of winning was approximately one in over two hundred million.

Even though the probability of winning was almost negligible, it did not stop these people from buying a dream that depends on chance.

CNN reported that Powerball players spent approximately $2.6 billion on tickets for this particular jackpot, which is much more than the winning money.

Why would anyone want to buy a ticket when their chances of winning are so slim?

The answer is the size of the prize – the huge chest filled with overflowing wealth.

This is a treasure worth risking everything for because where your treasure is there your heart is also!

Whatever you value most in your life, whatever is your desires, whatever you adore, whatever or whomever you spend most of your time with, that is the place where your heart lies.

Wherever your heart is the Lord will know because you cannot hide from Him.

What are the things you value most in your life?ย

Some people value their houses, land, clothes, and jewelry while others value their jobs, spouse, family, and children.

Since you cannot achieve properties and goods unless you have money then it becomes easy to value money above everything else in life.

Greed has consumed many in our society who have resorted to illegal and dishonest means to attain wealth.

They formulate money scams on the internet and other places to capture gullible and unsuspecting individuals.

The church which is supposed to be a place of refuge has become a money-changing business transaction.

Many false teachers and prophets are teaching that sowing seed or money into their ministry will result in financial blessings.

Some persons are even selling the gifts of the Holy Spirit and you can now purchase prophecies on the internet.

They have turned the house of the Lord into a den of thieves instead of a house of prayer. (Matthew 21:12-13)

If you treasure money, job, and secular goals and desires, they will blow up in flames during fiery trials.

But if you treasure life instead of things and above all God and His kingdom then you will reap the benefits of abundant life on earth and everlasting life in the world to come.

Lay your treasures in heaven because the kingdom of God is not meat or drink but righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit. (Romans 14:17 KJV)

The most valuable seed that we can sow for God is our time and talent.

When you spend time in His presence feasting on His words, you will receive Godโ€™s right hand which is far greater than anything else in this world.

During the latter days of Solomon’s life, the wisest and richest man that ever lived on this earth, he said vanity of vanities, all is vanity.

He had seen all the works that are done under the sun and declared that all is vanity and grasping of the wind (Ecclesiastes 1:1,14).

Solomon recognized that in spite of all his wealth if he did not have God as the most important person in his life, his money and power were worth absolutely nothing.

Therefore, ensure that your treasure lies in the presence of God because this is where your heart will be, and you will walk victoriously.

Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal;ย but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal.ย For where your treasure is, there your heart will also be. (Matthew 6:19-21 NKJV)

  1. I had been meditating on this all week, so when I saw your title- I was excited. This perfectly encapsulates so much of the chaotic world we live in. Thanks for Reminding Us that itโ€™s our time and talents that God can use and itโ€™s only what we do for Christ that will last! Thanks Beverley๐Ÿ’•

    • Everyday it becomes obvious that only what we do for Christ will last. Our education and money will not last beyond the grave. I pray that we will all come to this realization and work toward building up the kingdom of God. You are welcome and thank you also for sharing.

  2. Amen Beverley. We are to store up treasures in heaven and not get sidetracked by worldly pursuits that are not from God. Following His path will give our lives true purpose and meaning. Wow! Crazy how long that lottery line is. ๐Ÿ˜ฉ The idea of winning sucks people in.
