When I saw how much Barbara loves her job in spite of its many challenges I realized this was a great example of how the Lord wants us to approach our secular professions in life.

I agree that the workplace can be a stressful environment but when we release a spirit of joy and positivity in our environment it will change for the better.

Barbara is a faithful woman of God who is an inspiration to anyone who has met her in person or through her blog. The proof is on her blog. Please check it out.

I Love my job tag

Webster defines a job as a paid position of regular employment. However, there are many jobs for which we never receive a paycheck (ie. stay-at-home parent, caregiver, etc.) So for the purposes of this tag, a job is any work that you do on a regular basis. No paycheck is required.

WHY I LOVE MY JOB:

I see myself as a Writer, Blogger, and a Medical Imaging Technologist.

I believe that God has called me into full-time ministry to share His Word through writing and teaching with the intent to encourage and motivate us to live a more victorious life as the Oil and Wine.

I am grateful to God for providing me with these two jobs. My secular job pays my bills while working for the Lord keeps me grounded in His Word.

1. Both jobs allowed me to meet new people every day and I enjoyed having a conversation with them and learning new cultures.
2. Both places where I work overlook the sea and I like to eat lunch while enjoying the tranquility of the sea.
3. It is thrilling to see the excitement of new moms when they see their unborn baby for the first time on the ultrasound.
4. Being part of a health team that helps patients recover from illnesses is quite fulfilling.
5. It gives me great joy to encourage others and seeing them becoming uplifted.
6. I love that I worked at a small medical clinic and so the work is less stressful than working at the hospital.
7. I love that I have my weekends and evenings free and I do not have to work “on-call” duties as I did for fourteen years at the hospital.
8. This morning my son showed me something that gave me tremendous joy.

The picture above is a tomato plant that is growing from my balcony in no soil.

A few months ago I sowed some cherry tomatoes in a pot and it appeared as if one of the seeds fell on the ground and was swept to the edge of the balcony.

I was unaware of this until the seed germinated and began to grow. I was tempted to remove it because I thought that it would eventually die since there was no soil to give it nourishment.

Then I decided to let it stay until it dies.

Well, as you can see, the plant did not die but continues to grow and blossom and eventually producing fruits.

One of the fruit was riped and I picked it.

It is hard to believe that such a tiny fruit would make me so happy.

But, this tiny fruit represents hope.

Jesus told us a parable about a Sower who sowed seeds and they fell in different places.

Some of the seeds fell on stones where there was no soil and they germinated and began to grow.

However, when the sun came up they were scorched because their roots were not deep in the soil.

On the other hand, the seeds that were sown on the fertile ground brought forth fruit, some a hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold. (See Matthew 13:1-8).

This is the natural order of nature. The seeds must be planted in soil that is fertile and well-watered with plenty of natural sunlight to grow and produce fruit.

The spiritual implication of this parable is that your heart must be fertile and ready to listen, receive and practice the Word of God when it is sown so that you will grow into maturity, (Oil and Wine) bearing multiple fruits for the kingdom of God.

How fertile is your soil?

However, My resilient plant is telling me something different.

It is telling me that there is still hope for the stony heart – a heart that is hardened, stubborn, and disobedient, always resisting the conviction of the Holy Spirit.

Do not give up on such a heart!

There is still hope because God can germinate the seed of the Word of God in the stony heart.

The proof is seen in nature – my resilient plant!

Gardening is the third job that I decided to tackle. I helped my landlady with her small front-yard garden but hope to grow food on a larger scale one day.

Incidentally, the other tomato seeds that germinated inside the pot and transplanted in the ground have grown but have not produced any fruit so far. But, I am still waiting!
