Matthew 14 is a remarkable chapter consisting of four different events. 

At the beginning of the chapter is the gruesome cold-blooded murder of the beloved prophet, John the Baptiste, by two evil women and a foolish and cowardly king. 

The horrific death of John the Baptist sent chills of fear among the disciples who took up his headless body and buried him.

Jesus, no doubt, was disturbed by the news and so He traveled by ship to a deserted place.

Obviously, He wanted to spend some time by Himself, possibly to mourn the death of His forerunner.

Perhaps, like Elijah, Jesus was simply running away from not one, but two Jezebels.

However, the people followed Jesus by foot into the dry empty desert where there was no food or water.

People who are in desperate need are often selfish.

When Jesus saw the multitude of desperately hungry people – hungry for the Word, hungry for the healing bread of life, hungry and thirsty for both the spiritual and physical food and water – He was moved with compassion.

Compassion overrode the grief in Jesus’ heart for His friend and the fear for His life.

Thus, Jesus put aside His personal problems and continued to minister.

He healed, delivered and fed the hungry people, not only with the Word but He also miraculously fed them with enough food to satisfy their hunger.

After the spiritual and physical needs of the people were met they returned home.

Jesus was finally left alone when His disciples left by ship to go to the other side.

Then, He went up into the mountain to pray.

Sometimes one tends to believe that doctors and nurses cannot become ill because their job is to look after the sick.

Sometimes church folks believe that pastors and ministers do not need to be ministered to because their job is to minister to them.

However, every human being is faced with the same infirmities, which included Jesus while He was on earth.

For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. (Hebrews 4:15)

Praying was Jesus’ power source to gain strength and rejuvenation.

Jesus prayed through the first, second and third watch of the night and then arose from His knees in the fourth watch to walk triumphantly on top of the raging sea to meet His disciples.

And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea. (Matthew 14:25)

I believe that you too can walk triumphantly on top of the raging sea when you get up to pray at the fourth watch of the night.

You can receive your miracle at the fourth watch of the night.

Yes, you can receive your healing and deliverance at the fourth watch of the night.

Therefore, get down on your knees and pray at the fourth watch of the night and watch as God shows up on your behalf.
