Who Are The Children Of God?

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God (Matthew 5:9)

Jesus stated that the peacemakers will be called the children of God. Since God created every human being we basically are all His children. But, sin alienated us from God.

We inherited this sinful nature from our earthly father, and are therefore, the children of the flesh.

But, because of God’s everlasting love for us, He engrafted us back into fold through Jesus Christ.

For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus (Galatians 3:26)

We, then, receive the Spirit of adoption where we can say, “Abba, Father.”

As such we have become heirs of God, joint-heirs with Christ and partakers of the heavenly calling.

To walk worthy of our calling as children of God, we have to be followers of the Lord Jesus Christ, walking in love, living righteously and being the peacemakers of the world.

What are the qualities of a peacemaker?

The peacemakers are those who resist the devil and shun the presence of evil.

The communication of a peacemaker must be straight forward without deception.

A peacemaker seeks no revenge but leave vengeance to God.

Peacemakers love their enemies. They bless those who curse them and are always doing good even to those who hate them.

The peacemakers never cease to pray for others especially for their persecutors.

The peaceful children of God will stand out in society as men and women of integrity and uprightness.

The children of God present their bodies as living sacrifice, holy and acceptable unto God. (Romans 12:1)

The peacemakers overcome evil with good.

Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good.

10 Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;

11 Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord;

12 Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer;

13 Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality.

14 Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not.

15 Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep.

16 Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits.

17 Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men.

18 If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.

19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.

20 Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head.

21 Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good. (Romans 12:9-21)

  1. My mom is a retired nurse and someone told her that when she would walk in the room it was a spirit of peace that came in with her. We know that was the Spirit of God working through her. As Christians our lives should exhibit the peace of God.
