Eight Interesting Facts About Wisdom

Testing your wisdom.

One of the main reason why books are written is because the writers believe that they possessed knowledge and wisdom that they want to share with the world.

Some people believe that if something is recorded in a book then it is factual.

However, the serpent who was more cunning than all the beasts of the field, deceived and robbed mankind of their glorious relationship and position with God.

This cunning serpent inspired his prophets and servants to record his defiled wisdom on parchments and stones long before the people of God recorded His Word.

Unfortunately, when these ancient texts are unearthed many people regarded them as factual and wise.

Not everything that is old is wise and not every wisdom is factual.

Here are some interesting facts about wisdom.

1.  Everybody has the potential to be wise.

But, only God can give you wisdom.

If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. (James 1:5)

2.  Wisdom and humility are always together.

When pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly is wisdom. (Proverbs 11:2)

3.  There is no wisdom nor understanding without God.

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding. (Proverbs 9:10)

4.  Wisdom gives strength and life.

Wisdom strengtheneth the wise more than ten mighty men which are in the city.  (Ecclesiastes 7:19)

For wisdom is a defence, and money is a defence: but the excellency of knowledge is, that wisdom giveth life to them that have it. (Ecclesiastes 7:12)

5.  Wisdom is better than weapons of war.

Wisdom is better than weapons of war: but one sinner destroyeth much good. (Ecclesiastes 9:18)

6.  The Lord Jesus Christ was empowered with the spirit of wisdom and understanding.

And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots and the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon Him. The spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord (Isaiah 11:1-2

7.  The wisdom of this world is foolishnes to God.

For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness. (2 Corinthians 3:19)

8.  The wisdom of this world is different from heavenly wisdom.

The wisdom of this world is sensual and devilish. It consists of envy, bitterness, strife and competition (James 3:24-16)

But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. (James 3: 17)

  1. Very nice! I did a post today on my blog (KindnessAndCalm.blog) about Proverbs 13:10, which also speaks about wisdom. It says “Pride only breeds quarrels, but wisdom is found in those who take advice” (NIV). I highly agree that wisdom requires humility. It takes a humble person to admit they don’t know everything, and to open themselves up to the advice of another. Otherwise pride (and conflict) takes over. Well, that’s what I understood from it, anyway 🙂
