My Meat Is To Do God’s Will

Jesus spent hours ministering to the Samaritan woman without eating anything.

When Jesus ‘ disciples tried to persuade Him to eat He told them that He already had meat to eat.

The surprised disciples asked whether someone had brought food for Him to eat (John 4)

Jesus replied:

Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of Him that sent me, and to finish His work. (John 4:34)

The meat that Jesus referred to was not physical food. It was the mission that He was to accomplished upon the cross.

In the Old Testament, the meat offering was not animal flesh. It consisted of a meal of fine flour with oil and frankincense poured upon it.

Then the priest burned the meat offering on the altar as a sweet smelling savour unto the Lord. It was a gift offering presented to the Lord (Leviticus 2).

While Jesus was on earth, He saw His gift or meat offering to the Father as being obedient to the will of His Father.

What was the will of the Father for the Son?

All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out. For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.

And this is the Father’s will which hath sent me, that of all which He hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day. And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day. (John 6:37-40)

The will of the Father was to give His Son for a sacrifice for our sins and to deliver us from the present evil in this world (Galatians 1:4; Isaiah 53)

It is the Father’s will that every one who sees the Son and believes in Him will not be lost but will have everlasting life.

For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure. (Philippians 2:13)

Christ will raise up every single person who believes in Him at the end of this world. He will not lose a single person.

What about the backsliders?

The Lord Jesus Christ will make provision for them because it is not the will of the Father that He lose any of them.

During Christ’s sojourn on earth, He accomplished every single task that God the Father requires of Him.

He preached the gospel or good tithings to the meek. He bound the broken hearted, and released the captives and prisoners.

Jesus proclaimed to the world the acceptable year of the  Lord and the day of vengeance of God.

He also comforted the mourners and gave them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness.

The Lord planted us by the rivers of waters that we would be called trees of righteousness for the glory and praise to God (Isaiah 63). Hallelujah!

Our only requirement is that we follow Christ as He leads (Matthew 12:50).

May God help us that we can make our meat to do the will of the Lord.
