Watch And Pray

The flesh including the mind is weak. It is susceptible to temptations, and all forms of worldly desires.

Peter believed in his strength and told Jesus that even if everyone else stumbled he would never deny Jesus.

But, he did!

Peter’s denial proves that we cannot put confidence in our own ability. It is, therefore, critical that we strengthen our flesh through prayer.

Then He came to the disciples and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, “What! Could you not watch with Me one hour? Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” (Matthew 26:40)

Likewise, your mind should be renewed and your spirit strengthened with the Word of God.

That you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness. (Ephesians 4:22-24)

I beseech you, therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. (Romans 12:1-2)
