Power Is In Your Hands

Did you know that the Lord put the power of healing in your hands?

He also put the power of restoration in the hands of man.

Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers. (3 John 2)

God established our healing in the begining of creation when He made the first human beings .

Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”

So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.

Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”

Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good. So the evening and the morning were the sixth day. (Genesis 1:26-28;31)

Let us dissect some key words in the scripture above to understand the tremendous power and responsibilities that God placed in our hands.

Dominion

According to the English dictionary, dominion means the power or right of governing and controlling.

God gave humans the right to control the entire earth. At no point in time did God took away this right.

Humans have the aurhority to control every living thing that moves in the seas, the birds of the air and every cattle and creeping things on the face of the earth.

Humans have the right to do whatever they chose to do with all living things that are on the earth.

This means that they can chose which plants and animals they want to cultivate or domesticate.

Scientists are presently conducting genetic modification on plants and animals to produce more food and to find cure for diseases etc.

Are these researches considered sin?

Because God gave man the power to control the living things on earth then scientific researches and experiments cannot be considered a sin as long as they are done in modification, with no cruelty to the animals and no harm to humans.

Fruitful

Fruitful means producing good results.

Therefore, humans were given the power to produce anything that would be beneficial and profitable to the earth and population.

Thus, God gave humans the ability to invent technology and build machines.

He gave us the knowledge to use medicine to diagnose and find the cure for every diseases on the face of the earth.

In the middle of its street, and on either side of the river, was the tree of life, which bore twelve fruits, each tree yielding its fruit every month. The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. (Revelation 22:2)

The healing of the nations can be found in the plants.

God gave us the knowledge to find these cures so that everyone whether or not you believe in God can benefit.

God does not discriminate against anyone. Because He wants the best for each of us, He put healing into our hands.

Some Christians believe that if they are ill they do not need to visit the doctor because God will heal them.

So they neglect to take care of their bodies until eventually they collapse and die.

Why were these people not miraculously healed by God?

Was it because they did not have enough faith?

Why do some persons receive miraculous healing while others do not?

While Christ was on earth, healing was the most prevalent miracles that He performed.

Physicians were available but their ability to heal was limited. An example of this was the woman with the issue of blood for twelve years who could not be cured by the doctors.

The woman believed that Jesus could heal her and she was healed (Luke 8).

Before Christ ascended into heaven He stated that we will do greater works than He did.

Did Jesus mean the same works that He performed?

Or was He implying that God will give humans advance medical capabilities to cure every diseases, which were not possible while He was on earth?

I suggest that every Christians should seriously think about these questions because no one is too holy to become ill.

And if you are ill it is not a sin to visit the doctor for medical attention.

Prevention is better than cure! So ensure that you maintain a healthy diet both spiritually and physically and God will ensure that you remain healthy and strong.

Multiplication

Multiply means to make many or to increase in number or quantity.

Thus, procreation is necessary for the human species, and this can only be done by a man and a woman.

Anything else is against the principles of God and is a sin.

So the cloning of humans is a sin in the sight of God.

Two people of the same sex cannot fulfill the principle of multiplication. Therefore, such unions are against the Word and principles of God.

Fill the earth

Fullness means maximum capacity to the extent that the earth can hold.

How do we know when the earth reaches its limitation?

There is no limit to the earth’s capacity when we also practice subdue along with filling. Fill and subdue!

Subdue

Sudue means to bring under control or subjection.

The earth must be filled but not overful or over populated.

Hence, humans need to exercise a level of control over every aspect of society e.g. population, productivity and technology.

Replenish

Replenish means to fill again or to make a new.

As the natural elements on earth become depleted it is our duty to replace it.

For the customs of the peoples are futile; for one cuts a tree from the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the ax. (Jeremiah 10:3)

For examples, if the forest is cleared to make room for agriculture, then the same number of trees that were removed should be replaced somewhere else.

As you can see, God created man and woman, blessed them and gave them power and authority over all the earth. Then, He released them while He created the 7th day just for His rest.

The power over the earth was in the hands of man to use wisely.

Do humans still have this authority?

Unfortunately, Adam and Eve lost this authority in the Garden of Eden when they believed the words of the serpent, one of the beast of the field, above the Word of God.

In other words, they allowed a beast to dominate their actions instead of the other way around.

Thus, they became subjected to the power of the serpent resulting in a loss of their authority to heal, replenish, multiply and subdue.

But, thanks be to God, in His great wisdom, foresaw the downfall of men and made provision through His Son the Lord Jesus Christ.

Through the finished work at Calvary we have regained the original authority that we had from the begining. It is now up to us to use it wisely.
