Don’t Sell Your Soul For Thirty Pieces Of Silver
Thirty pieces of silver were the amount of money that the chief priests paid Judas to deliver Jesus into their hands (Matthew 26:14-15).
Judas returned the thirty pieces of silver to the High Priests, but they refused to accept it, so he threw it down in the temple and left and hanged himself. He was unable to live with the guilt of his sin.
The chief priests took the money and purchased a potter’s field to bury strangers. It was called the field of blood. (Matthew 27:1-10)
All of this event was prophesied by Zechariah in chapter 11:4-17. The Lord told Zechariah to demonstrate the behavior of the people of Judah who had fallen into idolatry and disobedience.
They slaughtered the sheep (the poor and victimized people), and they hated and dismissed his shepherds (true prophets). Zechariah broke the covenant with the people for thirty pieces of silver and threw it into the house of the Lord. He broke the bond of brotherhood between Judah and Israel.
Before Christ was betrayed, He was already aware of the plot on His life, and He revealed it to His disciples (Matthew 26:1-5). Although God the Father designed His suffering, the Lord protected Him and controlled the actions of the enemy.
Jesus was first anointed with costly fragrant oil for his burial by the woman with the alabaster box. This woman went down as a memorial in history because of her actions (Matthew 26:6-13).
After the plot by Judas, Christ had the Passover supper with His disciples solidifying the new covenant of His blood. (Matthew 26:17-25)
You can read more about the significance of the oil and wine here.
Christ also predicted which of his disciples would deny him when He was captured. (Matthew 26:31-35)
Then Jesus said to them, “All of you will be made to stumble because of Me this night, for it is written:
‘I will strike the Shepherd, and the sheep of the flock will be scattered.’ (Matthew 26:31)
Zechariah made the above prophecy. (Zechariah 13:7)
The final action of Jesus before He was betrayed was to pray in the Garden of Gethsemane. However, His disciples fell asleep instead of praying with Him.
They could not even stay up with Him for one hour, not even Peter, who pledged to die instead of denying Christ. (Matthew 26:35)
After the first watch, Jesus woke His disciples and said particularly to Peter
“What! Could you not watch with Me one hour? Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” (Matthew 26:40-41)
The disciples could not even stay awake to pray with their loving Master on the second or third watch. Finally, when the hour came, Jesus returned to His slumbering disciples and woke them and said
“Are you still sleeping and resting? Behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of Man is being betrayed into the hands of sinners. Rise, let us be going. See, My betrayer is at hand.” (Matthew 26:45).
The rest of the story is history.
But it is a warning to the Church always to be prepared by watching with your spiritual eyes and praying. The devil is lurking around like a roaring hungry lion seeking whom he may devour. We need to be praying for our teenagers and young people, and we need to pray for marriages and our families.
The devil is sowing seeds of discord and confusion into our children’s lives, and we need to pray for them that they do not fall into temptation. We must also empower our mind to think highly of ourselves and not to allow anyone to belittle us by giving them the rights to our bodies.
I am speaking right now in particularly to the young ladies. Take a good look at yourselves in the mirror and see how beautiful you look.
Then tell yourself that you will not sell your body or soul for thirty pieces of silver. This statement may sound harsh to you, and you may think to yourself that you are not doing that. I will tell you how you are doing this.
If you allow any man who is not your lawful spouse, to touch and know you intimately, you have received their spirits into your body.
If these spirits are filled with Satan demons such as drugs, alcohol, immoralities, perversions, sodomy, bitterness, fear, pride, etc.; then you have sold your soul to the devil for five minutes of pleasure but a lifetime of pain and regret.
The only man who should know your secret parts is the one whom God has ordained for you. This man will love you unconditionally and sacrificially. He will give you the love of God and not sexual intercourse. This love will reward you with a lifetime of pleasure.
Secondly, if you receive expensive gifts such as jewelry, furniture, car and money from boyfriends or married men who are not your husbands you have sold your soul to the devil for thirty pieces of silver.
The devil will release an evil spirit of guilt, shame, and condemnation in your heart, similar to Judas. After you have received that blood money or gifts, your guilt will be like a rope around your neck which will tighten every single day until you repent to God.
You do not have to receive a similar fate as Judas because Christ’s redemption can free you.
The devil has laid out a lot of traps for us which we have taken very lightly because the world wants us to believe that they are okay. Be wise and take precautions.
Be like the woman with the alabaster box of ointment who anointed Christ for His burial.
When you have accepted Christ as your Savior, your body is now dead to sin, and you are now a new person alive in Christ Jesus.
The anointing oil also symbolized the new covenant of Christ blood which was shed for the remission of your sins. The oil also represents the Holy Spirit, which will dwell in your heart to teach, guide, protect and keep you pure.
Therefore, every morning and night after you have taken a bath anoint your body with oil and speak the following words over your life:
“This is my body that God has created in His image and likeness. It is the first gift that He gave to me at conception, and it is priceless, more valuable than gold or silver. My body is now a holy temple unto God. Therefore, I will not allow anyone or anything to defile it, but I will love, cherish and preserve it for God’s glory.”
Afterwords, pray that God will continue to strengthen and keep you throughout the day and night.
When you follow these simple rules, you are well protected, and the devil cannot harm you.
The enemy is relentless, and he will not stop attacking you with his evil spirits, so surround yourself with the anointing of Jesus Christ, the Holy Communion, and prayers.
