The Power of the Word

We speak very often about the word of God and we also read about the word of God in the bible; but do you know who or what is the word of God? Do you believe that it has power? If there is power in the word of God why is it not benefiting many people who are still under bondage?

Whenever you read your bible do you believe what it says? Most importantly do you understand it? I often wondered why the word of God is so effective in my life but when I shared it with others they do not have the same effect.

The Lord revealed the answers to these questions in His word and it is guarantee to change your life as it did mine.

He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him. He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him. But as many as receive Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name; who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. (John 1:10-13)

Christ descended from the tribe of Judah which was one of the twelve tribes of Israel – God’s first chosen people. He was the promised Messiah whom the prophets prophesied would take over the throne of David.

However, when He came He was born in an ordinary family in a poor village of Bethlehem, Judah. Hence no one believed that He was a king except the wise men and shepherds who visited Him at birth.

In spite of the many miracles that Jesus performed many of His own people still refused to believe that He was the promised Messiah. So they despised and rejected Him until eventually they persecuted Him and delivered Him to the Romans to be crucified.

Although the reality of this story is painful it was actually the plan of God that it happened this way (Isaiah 53). It was necessary that God demonstrated to us the importance of receiving His words willingly.

Even though many Jewish people did not believe in the Lord Jesus Christ the invitation is extended to the entire world. Everyone who receive Christ as their Savior will become the children of God who is now the chosen generation.

It is therefore imperative that we receive the word of God which is manifested in His Son Jesus Christ. The word of God also abides in our heart (1 John 2:14). The word of God is also the written word which we have in the form of the Bible.

The word of God is living and powerful and sharper than a two edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart (Hebrews 4:12).

When the Lord speaks forth His Word it will not return to Him void but will accomplish what He pleases, and shall prosper in the things for which He sent it. (Isaiah 55:11)
