Refuting The Negative Words Derived From COVID-19

The first official report about COVID-19 from WHO was on December 31, 2020, when the organization announced that dozens of people were treated in China from pneumonia of unknown cause.

Since then this virus has escalated to the entire world.

Read more about the COVID-19 pandemic.

As a result of this pandemic, we have been bombarded with a wide range of news from various news stations on the television and social media.

We have also been bombarded with a new vocabulary regarding this virus.

Most of these terminologies are designed to create fear in the hearts of people.

Whenever I heard some of the terms used by the health professionals and news broadcasters I found myself rebuking their negative impact.

The Bible states that pleasant words are like honeycombs sweet to the soul and health to the bones (Proverbs 16:24)

On the other hand, the mouth of the wicked is perverse and deceitful and will be cut off (Proverbs 10:31-32).

It is a fact that the words that you speak will produce life or death (Proverbs 18:21). Yet the words that are spoken regarding this disease are mostly words of death.

I will list some of these words or phrases and counteract them with the words of life from the Lord Jesus Christ.

Indeed, the Lord declared,

“It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.” (John 6:63)

The negative words of death are in red while the positive words of life to counteract the words of death are in blue.

Outbreak – A large sudden active manifestation of the virus in a particular location. It is like an eruption.

Quicken – Think about the empowering of the Holy Spirit that will revive you and restore health and life to your body, soul, and spirit.

But God, who is rich in mercy, for His great love wherewith He loved us, even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: (Ephesians 2:4-5)

Incubation – The time (2-14 days) that the disease remains inactive inside a person’s body before he succumbs to the disease.

Nullify – The Lord will frustrate and hinder the plots of Satan so that his seed (virus) will not germinate in your body.

And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the Lord of hosts. (Malachi 3:11)

Transmission – The spread of the disease from one person to another. It is believed that COVI-19 is spread by droplets and by touching contaminated surfaces.

Prayer – Our best weapon to stop the spread of this disease is consistent prayer. When we pray we open a direct line of communication to our great God who will hear and answer immediately.

Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. (Jeremiah 29:12-13NKJV)

Social distancing – Ensuring that you stay at least six feet away from other people.

Unity – Behold, how good, and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! (Psalms 133:1)

During this time of tribulation that we are all going through, the Lord wants us to come together to encourage each other in love. The enemy does not want us to be united so he sent this virus to create division.

However, we can connect with each other spiritually through prayer, communication, monitoring, and being our brother’s keeper.

Always remember that we serve ONE God!

I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called, with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love, endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all. (Ephesians 4:1-6NKJV)

Self-isolation – Isolating yourself at home if you have traveled or you suspect that you came in contact with a person who has the virus.

Self-isolation and quarantine encourage loneliness.

Strength and courage from the Lord – The Holy Spirit who dwells in your heart will drive out the spirit of loneliness.

Be strong and of good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the Lord thy God, He it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee. (Deuteronomy 31:6)

Shelter in place (Lockdown or house arrest) – The government officials ordered everyone to remain inside their house for a specific time. The people are only allowed out for emergencies and are constantly monitored by armed forces on the street.

Secret place or sanctuary of God – Think of how precious it is to be safely secured in the secret place of God under the shadow of His wings.

He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. (Psalms 91:1-3)

Deadliest day – Any day that a country or state has the highest deaths from COVID-19.

Life – The Lord is not a God of the dead but the living because in the Lord Jesus Christ is life and this life is the light of men (Luke 20:38; John 1:4)

For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (John 3:16)

Never forget that the WORD of God is more powerful than the deceptive language of the enemy!

  1. Attack-counter attack! This is fantastic Beverley. You are spot on with describing the attacks from the enemys negative terminologies that provokes fear in the hearts of people with a counter attack using the all-powerful Words of God which enables us to overcome these phantom fears. That’s why we should continually feast on the Word of God that we will automatically and spiritually come against this negative narrative that has been so pervasive these past few months. The scriptures which come to mind are:

“For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12
    and–

    (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
    2 Corinthians 10:4-5

Thank you for addressing this subject. God bless.♡

    • Amen! Quick and powerful! The Word of God will quickly nullify the effect of the words of death spoken by the enemy. The Word of God is also powerful enough to tear down the strongholds of the enemy. Thank you for reminding us of these powerful scriptures. Enjoy the rest of your day. ❤❤

    • Praise the Lord! Only in God we can find peace. At first when I use to listen to news I really felt fear creeping in my heart until I realized it was a strategy of the enemy.

I noticed on the news that they kept showing the same dismal footage over and over again to make it appeared as if there were chaos in the hospitals. Jesus warned us that we need to be as wise as the serpent but harmles as a dove. This means we have to use our spiritual eyes to see their thoughts and intent. God is able to reveal the plot of the enemy to His children. Thanks for reading and sharing your thoughts. I appreciate your support.

  2. Thank you, Beverly! My father and I have been discussing this very thing recently-the need to keep lifting up the Good News in the midst of all the doom and gloom.

    • We ceratainly need to speak the positive Word of God in the atmosphere and to show love to each other instead of treating each other as if we are lepers.

Notice how some of the workers in the buisness places treat you when you enter their premises.

I went to the hospital yesterday to fill a prescription and they would not let me come inside. They were fanning me away telling me that I should stand six feet away from them. Can you imagine!

A hospital that is usually filled with germs! It is unbelievable!

But I thank God that He said come to Him! He will never shun us away regardless of our state or circumstances. Praise the Lord!

      • This 6 ft distancing is over the top. Why 6 ft? Why not 5 or 7ft? I looked up the number 6 in the book I have Biblical Mathematics, Keys to Scripture Numerics, by Evangelist Ed F. Vallowe, and the number 6 means “weakness of man”, “evils of satan”, and “manifestation of sin”. I guess that makes sense, because as you said God didn’t impose this distancing, man did. God is Love and unity, compassionate and merciful. Try to show that toward a needful soul and you get fanned away and reprimanded for breaking the rules of distancing and isolation. We must not fear what man can do to us when we take a stand in love toward others. No matter what. God is watching and will protect us when we take that stand. It will come to a point where the rubber will meet the road and it will be by our faith that we will overcome. It will be like the Book of Acts, part 2. We can cut it. ♡

      • Totally agree with you. God created man on the six day so the number six is always associated with man.

Indeed, I believe that this is the reason why God inspired the person who decided to only include 66 books in the Bible. It is the right amount of books necessary to help sinful man and lead them to salvation through Jesus Christ.

Revelation 6:6 (Note the chapter and verse has the mumber 6) says,
“And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say, A measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny; and see thou hurt not the oil and the wine.”
This is another proof that this verse directly refers to humanity and the special protection that God has for us. Thanks my friend for your valuable information.
